Eagle 911 - facet design

Eagle 911
A faceted tribute to the victims of September 11.

Beginner-to-Intermediate project

This design can be cut as a normal reflective gemstone or treated as a frosted image. For both, start by cutting and polishing all pavilion facets. For the frosted image, you can frost the facets that create the eagle image after polishing using a worn 360-grit or new 600-grit lap. Using 360 or 600 after polishing requires a stationary lap — that is, turn off the motor and just rough up the image-forming facets by scraping them once on the lap without grinding. Then follow the same sequence for meetpointing.

The stones I recommend using for this cut with no frost are topaz, corundum, and cubic zirconia.

MP means meet point
GMP means girdle meet point
TCP means temporary center point
CMH means constant mast height
